WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he would not destroy the world economy by hardening Saudi Arabia over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was living in the United States, although the CIA believed the Saudi crown prince had ordered him killed.

 

Trump made the remarks to reporters as he continued to defend Riyadh, although a group of Republican and Democratic lawmakers were pressing Trump to punish Saudi Arabia cruelly.

 

Trump said Saudi Arabia helped the US keep oil prices low.
