Yasushi Onoda, First Vice President of JKT Holdings, said on Wednesday that the Japanese company would consider whether to resume buying Iranian crude after Tokyo received an exemption from US sanctions on Tehran.

"If the company decides to resume purchases in the light of the economic viability of Iranian oil compared to other materials, the loading will be in December at the earliest," Yasushi told reporters at a press briefing on the company's profit in six months.

He added that the government had given the green light to resume the import of Iranian oil, but did not disclose any information on the quantities to be allowed.
