The Russian sales market could compensate China for its losses due to the trade war with the United States, Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Peace, Friendship and Development Committee Boris Titov said on Friday.

"Our market can compensate the Chinese for what they lose in America, meaning that part of the goods that were destined for the US market could come to us, and in turn this will replace imports from Europe," Titov told Sputnik.

According to Titov, Russia can supply more agricultural products to China, so "some trade barriers need to be removed."

The trade war between China and the United States of America began in early July, and the reciprocal tariffs of the two countries came into force. The United States imposed a 25 percent import duty on 818 products from China, worth 34 billion US dollars annually.

For its part and countermeasures, China on the same day imposed a customs duty of 25 percent on the import of an equal amount of American goods.
