The Budget and Accounts Committee of the People's Assembly discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and its affiliates for the year 2019 amounting to 33 billion and 172 million Syrian pounds.

 

The members of the Committee stressed during their interventions the importance of public construction companies relying on building Syria and the need to support its budget to buy the necessary mechanisms for the reconstruction phase.

 

He called on the members to expedite the payment of the dues of the contractors participating in the implementation of the Ministry's projects and to be the priority of construction of the areas located at the entrances to the provinces and find a way to establish financial funds for the technical support provided by university professors of existing projects and reconsider the decision requirements for those wishing to residents of high buildings and destroyed in Aleppo, Or construction.

 

In response to the interventions of the members, Minister of Public Works and Housing Engineer Hussein Arnous stressed that the ministry is working on translating residential projects on the ground and its construction companies are seeking to sign contracts to supply the mechanisms with Russian companies and work with other contractors and contractors by not more than 15% Pointing out that the number of mechanisms affected during the war reached 6000 mechanisms.

 

Minister Arnous stressed that the ministry's first strategic objective is to make public construction companies the executive arm of the government in the implementation of its projects, pointing out that the General Establishment for Housing has completed contracts for the restoration of buildings in Aleppo and studies for various areas of the province.

 

Minister Arnous pointed out that the ministry will reconsider the requirements regarding the restoration of destroyed buildings in Aleppo while preserving the rights of absentees from the people of any building subject to restoration and that the ministry seeks to pay the rights of all contractors working with it and prepares the organizational and development studies of the areas at the entrances to the provinces, National Housing "calling on the private sector to participate in the process of construction and reconstruction as well as public construction institutions.

 

It is noteworthy that the investment budget of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and its affiliates for the year 2018 amounted to 27 billion and 421 million Syrian pounds.
