The Budget and Accounts Committee of the People's Assembly discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade and its affiliates for the year 2019 amounting to two billion and 34 million.

 

The members of the committee inquired about the economic results and imports from the last session of the Damascus International Fair, the census and survey carried out by the SME, the status of the free zone in Aleppo, reactivation of exhibitions in the governorates and the role of foreign trade institutions during the current period and the reality of import and export licenses in 2018.

 

In his response to the interventions of the members, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohamed Samer Al-Khalil pointed out that the increasing activity of the opposition is a clear indicator of the recovery of the economic movement and said: "If we continue at this pace, Syria will achieve in the next 3 years statistics and figures reached before the war in the field Exhibitions, "adding: The specialized exhibitions return to the provinces gradually and most importantly direct sales exhibitions.

 

In the same context, Minister Khalil pointed out that the results of the contracts signed on the sidelines of the Damascus International Fair will be shown later and the increase in the spaces and the numbers of companies and countries participating in the exhibition is evidence of the economic and promotional benefit achieved by them in addition to the high financial imports this year.

 

The Minister pointed out that the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority has set a time limit for the completion of the current survey in all governorates and is preparing for the first time to hold an exhibition in Homs and is also working on the training and rehabilitation of those wishing to obtain employment opportunities in private sector companies pointing out that the damage is very large in the region But the ministry is preparing a study for its rehabilitation.

 

Regarding the General Establishment for Foreign Trade, the Minister pointed out that the ministry has for the first time a "national plan for export", which details the reality of Syrian exports historically, its lines and problems. Structural and external trade and export by country and material, as well as the work of the ministries of economy and industry to develop the "substitution substitution" program that contributes to the promotion and increase of local products.
